Criminal Law

SB Advocates deals mostly with minor criminal law cases, particularly those related with other spheres of practice. To this effect thus, SB Advocates deals with numerous family-law related criminal cases, namely issues before the Criminal Court whereby the police prosecute for lack of payment of maintenance, problems related to access of children as well as issues of domestic violence. We act as defence as well as parte civile in criminal cases. It is proud to have assisted parte civile to the victim in the first judgement by Maltese Courts condemning a person found guilty of domestic violence to imprisonment.

Other cases in which SB Advocates are regularly engaged are those related to employment legislation, such as cases instituted by the Department of Labour as well as issues before the Criminal Courts of Justice whereby employers or employees are accused of sexual-harrassment, discrimination and related matters.
As a result of civil cases of tort, actions for damages, SB Advocates is also active in criminal cases relative to traffic contraventions and collisions.
We have over the years acted as defence counsel in theft, attempted murder, voluntary damage to property, involuntary homicide, bribery and fraud cases, as well as delicate cases of corruption of minors.
